FIB’s GOT TALENT REGISTRATION IS OPEN!!!

Good morning Sir/Madam, always stay healthy!

The following is an update on the activities for the FACULTY OF CULTURAL SCIENCE’S 78th ANNIVERSARY, GADJAH MADA UNIVERSITY. Registration for one of the very interesting series of activities, namely FIB’s GOT TALENT, is open from 1st-14th of February 2024! For those who wish to register, please pay attention to the following things:

CRITERIA:

  1. Participants are children/grandchildren of lecturers or teaching staff’s families at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Gadjah Mada university, at 3rd grade of elementary school students.
  2. Participants send a video containing the talent display of each participant.
  3. The talent in mention can be in the form of:
  • Dancing (Modern: Breakdance, Hip Hop, Ballet, Shuffle Dance, LED Dance and Traditional)
  • Singing (All music and genres), Others such as:
  •  Music Performance (musical instruments provided independently by participants)
  •  Stand Up Comedy, Magic
  •  Sports that can be shown include: Wushu, Acrobatics, Cheerleading, Gymnastics etc

VIDEO TERMS & CONDITIONS:

  • The video must be a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 7 minutes
  • Maximum file size is 100 MB and the video format used is MP4
  • The video is in landscape or horizontal orientation with one shot and no cut.
  • The video must be clear supported by good lighting.
  • Editing of colors and effects is allowed as long as the details of the movement are still clearly visible.
  • The videos submitted have never been used to take part in any competition.
  • The videos and costumes worn do not contain SARA and pornography.
  • Videos that have been uploaded fully become the property of the committee.
  • Announcement of winners is at the Opening.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:

  • Entertaining, interesting and have the ability to show their talents (30%)
  • Videography creativity, backdrop arrangement, improvisation (20%)
  • Costumes and make-up: Clothes and make-up used (15%)
  • Overall harmonization of appearance (35%)

Collect videos before February 14th 2024 via: http://ugm.id/FIBGotTalent and upload them to the Personal Social Media (Reels-IG/Tiktok) by tagging @fib.ugm

Faculty Visit: Faculty of Cultural Sciences Received a Visit from SMK Mutiara Terpadu, Sukabumi

News Release Thursday, 1 February 2024

On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences recieved a high school visit from SMK Mutiara Terpadu, Sukabumi from 09:00 – 11:00 AM in the Auditorium Soegondo, 7th Floor. In the opening speech delivered by the representative of SMK Mutiara Terpadu, it was mentioned that this visit focused on the similiar principle between both instituions in preserving culture.

Interestingly, the strong principle of upholding local wisdom by SMK Mutiara Terpadu was vividly reflected in the enthusiasm of the students who asked about various aspects related to culture, from the definition of culture to the origin of the name “Gadjah Mada” in the university’s name.

As usual, the visit ended with a photo session with all participants. The warm atmosphere could be easily felt and seen from the closeness among the participants who eagerly interacted with each other.

Nine UGM Students of the Javanese Language, Literature, and Culture Study Program Participated in a Javanese Script Teaching Program at SMA Negeri 1 Seyegan

Nine students from the Javanese Language, Literature, and Culture Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) have successfully implemented a teaching program for students at SMA Negeri 1 Seyegan. This teaching program is a collaboration with the principal of SMA Negeri 1 Seyegan, as a joint effort to preserve Javanese culture, particularly the use of Javanese script. The program was held from December 12 to 21, 2023, and concluded with a competition on December 22, 2023.

Nine students from the Javanese Language, Literature, and Culture Study Program participated in this program. They are Sindi Virninda, Nanda Nursa Alya, Rafael Raga B.P., Faradila Putri M., Ahmad Nur Astha, Enjang Prasetyo W., Fazi Arifian Pradara, Novita Nurhasanah, and Inayah Milati. The teaching was conducted using creative methods, with the hope that students could understand Javanese script comprehensively.

Nanda Nursa Alya, one of the teaching participants, expressed her joy in an interview, “It was very exciting because we were able to interact with the students.” Nanda explained that this program not only benefits students but also develops their skills of students, “This program trains us as students to be able to become teachers as well as friends for the students. In addition, this program also demands the creativity of students in creating good and enjoyable learning methods and media for students.”

With the implementation of this teaching program, Nanda hopes that the activity can be carried out every year. “I hope this program will always be there every year,” she said. This teaching program is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, especially the fourth point, Quality Education, which aims to improve the quality of education.

Culturepreneur Workshop by the Archaeology Department, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada

The Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, in collaboration with the Joint Secretariat of Main Partner Civilians, organized a workshop entitled “Culturepreneur in Heritage Areas.” The focus of this activity was the cultural heritage area of Lasem, Rembang Regency, Central Java, which has numerous tangible and intangible relics. The workshop activities included lectures, field observations, and the subsequent design of heritage-based commodities.

The classes and observations took place in Rembang from January 26 to 28, 2024. Several topics were discussed during the event, namely “Business Development through Understanding and Respecting Local Culture” presented by Sektiadi, S.S., M.Hum., “Branding of Old Town Areas” with the speaker Fauzie Helmy, and “Cultural Heritage as Inspiration for Creative Products” presented by D.S. Nugrahani, M.A.

The participants in this activity, coordinated by Dr. Mahirta, M.A., were twenty students from the 2021 and 2022 cohorts. They were divided into five groups, each tasked with creating mock-up designs of products inspired by the cultural heritage of the Lasem area. The ability to develop urban cultural heritage-based products is expected to equip students to contribute to the sustainability of communities in cities, especially those with cultural heritage. [z]

Open House by Archaeology Department: Magister of Archaeology

Master of Archaeology Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, is organizing an Open House event scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 15:30 to 17:00 Western Indonesian Time (GMT+7). This activity aims to introduce the available programs in the Master of Archaeology study program to prospective students. The event is conducted online, which enables participants to join and participate despite their location.

This event is one of the forms of responsibility in rthe realization of SDGs 4: “Quality Education,” which emphasizes the importance of providing equal and inclusive access to quality education and promoting academic opportunities for prospective students. Thus, the Open House does not only create an opportunity to introduce the Master of Archaeology study program with its interesting variety of programs but also supports the goals of sustainable education.
