The Family Body of History Students (BKMS) is a student association from the Department of History, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Aside from bridging history students with the Department of History and its lecturers, the BKMS also serves as a vehicle for history students to express themselves and develop their abilities, both verbal and non-verbal, while at university. To reach these goals, the BKMS is made up of five divisions, each of which have different intentions and goals. These divisions are:
1. Research and Development, intended to improve students’ abilities in their relations with historical literature and stimulate students’ scholarly imaginations.
2. Skills and Talents, meant as a vehicle for history students’ non-academic skills and talents (futsal, photography, music, film).
3. Media, intended to develop history students’ journalistic abilities.
4. Public Relations, intended to develop networks, be they internal (between history students and different programs) or external (between alumni, students at other universities, and government offices).
5. Finance and Entrepreneurship, which serves to motor BKMS’ independent fundraising, be it through book fairs or other activities which earn money for BKMS.
Family is an important foundation for the BKMS. Our mottos “GRAND BKMS!” or “BKMS: One for all, all for one” are often recited by members to give them motivation during work programs or after monthly meetings. Professionalism in our work and a high level of discipline, however, are still among the most important elements in the development of this organization, beloved by the history students at FCS UGM.
VIVA HISTORIA!!!
