The Tourism Students Association (HIMAPA) was formally established on 5 May 2011. This organization’s establishment was based on Decree of the Rector No. 528 of 2009 regarding the Establishment of the Tourism Baccalaureate Program. At first, students of the tourism baccalaureate program were included with their “older siblings”, KAMADIPA (the Family of Tourism Diploma Students), but with the passage of time and institutional separation of the faculty and vocational school, HIMAPA was formed for the tourism baccalaureate students. The presence of HIMAPA has added to the diversity of department organizations at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, UGM.
Although the organization has only recently been established, its existence has had an impact through its various successful activities, including discussion (themed “Beginning Steps”) held during the election of the organization’s leadership and administrative structure, appearances at various faculty events such as SASPORTE (where we’ve won the women’s badminton tournament). HIMAPA has also made Thursdays HIMAPA batik day and established the Rembug Sedulur Parwi socialization event, meant to build stronger ties between members of HIMAPA.

Vision:
To become a tourism student organization based in knowledge, family, and culture.

Mission:
• Manifest and promote familial bonds between citizens and academics.
• Be a vehicle for the development of knowledge and discourse.
• Prepare critical and creative academics to face global issues through a cultural approach.
With this vision and mission, which form the basis of every breath taken by HIMAPA, it is hoped that this organization will not be impotent, but capable of bringing change to tourism management in Indonesia and thus bringing greater prosperity to the Indonesian people.
