SEASREP will commemorate its 20th anniversary with an international conference, Celebrating 20 Years of SEASREP and Southeast Asian Studies,at the University of Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on 4-5 November 2015. The conference is supported by the Toyota Foundation and the Japan Foundation Asia Center (Tokyo).

The conference aims to reflect upon the achievements of SEASREP over the past 20 yearsby encouraging SEASREP grantees, participants, partners, and scholars of Southeast Asian studies to share their research findings. The conference is also interested in new studies about the region. Aside from paper presentations, the conference will feature special opening and closing panels where speakers will discuss the state, progress and prospects of Southeast Asian studies in the future.

The conference is open to all Southeast Asian specialists in the humanities and social sciences. Grants are available for Southeast Asians in the region who wish to read papers and require some support.Attached is the call for papers.

Judul: Mobile Indonesians: Social Differentiation and Digital Literacies in The 21st Century

The talk will be presented by Emma Baulch and Jerry Watkins , co-investigators on the research project ‘Mobile Indonesians: social differentiation and digital literacies in the 21st century’, funded by the Australian Research Council. In the talk, Emma and Jerry will present their preliminary findings from their research into the roles of mobile phones in two areas of public communication in Indonesia, pertaining to public health (particularly HIV outreach) and popular culture, respectively. The widespread uptake of mobile phones in recent years has the capacity to enhance HIV outreach workers ability to collect and analyse public health data, and by extension, to empower locally based community health organisations to monitor and evaluate their programs, and to input national level policies. The same popularisation of mobile phones has also shaped consumption of popular culture in new ways, with new political consequences. Mobile phones not only enhance the political power invested in pop idols, but also render the socio-cultural implications of consuming pop much more complex and diffuse. Emma and Jerry will briefly talk about these two case studies in their research into mobile phones, with a view to provoking a discussion about new research agenda pertaining to Indonesian digital society.

Untuk Alumni Mahasiswa S2 dan S3 Fakultas Ilmu Budaya
Universitas Gadjah Mada

Sebagai upaya meningkatkan minat dan jumlah penerbitan buku yang berkualitas, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Gadjah Mada, memberikan dana hibah untuk penulisan naskah buku bersumber dari Tesis S2 dan Disertasi, yang akan diterbitkan oleh Gama Press.

PERSYARATAN DAN PROSEDUR
1. Untuk Alumni Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Gadjah Mada.
2. Naskah buku bersumber dari Tesis S2 dan Disertasi yang sudah diujikan dalam periode 2011 – 2014 dan lulus dengan nilai A (dibuktikan dengan fotokopi transkrip nilai).
3. Format sudah dalam bentuk naskah buku (bukan dalam format tesis atau disertasi): diserahkan dalam bentuk hard copy sebanyak dua eksemplar; jumlah halaman untuk naskah bersumber
4. Tesis S2 maksimal 150 halaman dan Disertasi maksimal 200 halaman (ukuran kertas A4), termasuk bibliografi dan lampiran; dengan huruf Times New Roman 12; spasi 1,5; dan margin: kiri: 4, atas: 4, kanan: 3, bawah: 3. Gambar boleh dicetak hitam-putih atau berwarna. Jika naskah terpilih, peserta diwajibkan menyerahkan draft dalam bentuk soft copy.
5. Penulis naskah buku yang terpilih berkewajiban mencantumkan keterangan mengenai penerimaan hibah penerbitan buku dari Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Gadjah Mada, dalam acknowledgement.
6. Naskah buku belum pernah dan tidak sedang diproses untuk diterbitkan. Naskah yang sudah terpilih tidak boleh diterbitkan selain oleh Gama Press.
7. Prosedur pengumpulan naskah buku: diserahkan ke Sekretariat Dekan FIB-UGM, paling lambat 30 Januari 2015, beserta CV singkat (maksimal 2 halaman termasuk berisi alamat korespondensi, nomor telepon, dan E-mail yang bisa dihubungi).

BESARAN HIBAH PENERBITAN:
Akan dipilih 10 (Sepuluh) naskah buku untuk diterbitkan. Masing-masing penulis yang naskahnya akan diterbitkan, menerima dana hibah sebesar Rp. 10.000.000,00 (Sepuluh Juta Rupiah). Aturan kontrak dan royalti akan mengikuti sistem yang diberlakukan oleh Gama Press.
