Pusat Bahasa FIB UGM Organizes TOEFL Digital On-Site Test in Collaboration with IIEF

Yogyakarta, 17 April 2025 – Pusat Bahasa of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FIB UGM) partnered with the Indonesian International Education Foundation (IIEF) to successfully organize the TOEFL Digital On-Site test today. The test took place at FIB UGM, with ten participants arriving at the venue starting at 7:30 AM. The official test began at 8:00 AM.

The participants expressed enthusiasm for enhancing their English language skills, recognizing it as a crucial factor for thriving in the increasingly interconnected global landscape. The test employed digital methods, which not only ensured efficiency but also promoted eco-friendliness by significantly reducing paper use. This reflects UGM’s commitment to leveraging technology in providing high-quality education.

To guarantee a smooth execution of the test, the Language Center of FIB UGM and IIEF ensured that the facilities met international standards for TOEFL testing. The venue offered modern amenities and accessibility, while the organizers provided pre-test briefings to help participants perform confidently and without technical difficulties.

The event served as both an opportunity for individuals to evaluate their English proficiency and a strategic step toward realizing Indonesia’s vision of producing globally competitive human resources. Through its collaboration with IIEF, UGM demonstrated the importance of partnerships between educational institutions and related organizations in expanding access to quality education across the country.

This initiative also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4, which emphasizes the need for inclusive and equitable quality education. Yogyakarta, 22/4/2025 – Pusat Bahasa FIB UGM plays a vital role in facilitating the Academic English Proficiency Test (AcEPT) for prospective students from Timor-Leste. This test was conducted as part of the admission process for new students at UGM and was held in Dili, Timor-Leste, on March 19, 2025. This initiative reflects UGM’s commitment to strengthening academic relations and international collaboration, especially with neighboring countries.

The AcEPT test is specifically designed to measure participants’ academic English proficiency. This competence is an essential requirement for international students aiming to pursue their education at UGM. The test serves not only to select qualified candidates but also to prepare them for the academic challenges they may encounter in a university setting, where English proficiency is critical for study and research.

Pusat Bahasa FIB UGM plays a central role in organizing this test, handling everything from preparation to execution. Online Courses at Fellas UGM: Access Lifetime Class Recordings

SDG 4 (Quality Education) Thursday, 20 February 2025

UGM Language Centre through Foreign Languages Learning Services (Fellas) is now offering English and other foreign language preparation test courses online. This initiative not only provides flexibility for participants, but also opens up learning opportunities without time limits.

By joining the online course at Fellas UGM, participants will receive recordings of each class session. These recordings can be accessed for life, allowing participants to repeat the material at any time as per their needs. This is one of the ways Fellas UGM ensures that the learning process continues even after the course is over.

The benefits of this lifetime access include:

  1. Time Flexibility: Participants can study anytime and anywhere without time constraints.
  2. Repetition of Material: Opportunity to repeat material that is difficult to understand or in preparation for exams.
  3. Ongoing Support: Participants can continue to update and improve their language skills even after the course is completed.

Yogyakarta, April 16, 2024 – The Center for Language Studies (Pusat Bahasa) at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FIB UGM), proudly organized the inaugural event for the English Academic of Purposes (EAP) program, in collaboration with the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas). The occasion marked the commencement of the EAP program tailored for the recipients of the DXHR (Development of Exhaustive Human Resources) scholarship under Bappenas’ Pusbindiklatren for the year 2024.

The distinguished ceremony, held at the FIB UGM premises, was graced by the presence of esteemed personalities from both academia and governmental institutions. Prof. Dr. Setiadi, M.Si, the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, UGM, inaugurated the event. His presence and support underscored the significance of fostering academic excellence and international collaboration in Indonesia’s educational landscape.

Accompanying Prof. Setiadi was Mr. Wignyo Adiyoso, S.Sos, MA, Ph.D., the Head of Pusbindiklatren Bappenas, along with his team and the entire cohort of prospective scholars. Mr. Pandu Pradana, representing Pusbindiklatren Bappenas, delivered insightful presentations, elucidating the program’s objectives, scheme, and anticipated outcomes. 

The EAP program stands as a testament to Indonesia’s commitment to nurturing a cadre of highly skilled professionals equipped with proficient English language abilities and academic prowess. Participants of this program are slated to embark on a transformative educational journey, commencing with the first year of Master’s studies within Indonesia. This phase of their academic pursuit is generously funded by the Ministry of National Development Planning (PPN)/Bappenas.

However, the program’s scope extends beyond national borders. Following the completion of their initial year, participants will have the invaluable opportunity to further their studies at one of our esteemed partner universities in Japan. This subsequent year of study will be supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), facilitating not only academic enrichment but also fostering cross-cultural exchanges and international cooperation.

The EAP program encapsulates the spirit of collaboration, excellence, and global engagement. It serves as a beacon of hope for the future, wherein talented individuals are empowered to contribute meaningfully to Indonesia’s development trajectory while forging lasting bonds with the global community. As we celebrate the inauguration of this transformative initiative, we look forward to witnessing the remarkable achievements and contributions of its participants in the years to come.
