YOGYAKARTA, FIB UGM – In support of the 2026 UGM Sustainability Campus Action program, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Gadjah Mada held a “Healthy Canteen Movement Workshop: Labeled Menus, Open Information on Every Dish, Protected Consumers” on Friday, October 9, 2026. The event took place in Room S 709, Soegondo Building, FIB UGM, from 09.00 to 11.00 WIB.
The workshop was officially opened by Erika Purnawati, S.Kom., M.Cs., Head of the Administrative Office. It was attended by academic and administrative teams, faculty staff, and food and beverage vendor representatives (tenants) from FIB UGM. Participating tenants included Magistra Coffee, Mie & Mie Kansas, Kantin Tisaga, Warung Makan Bu Yayuk, Jus Bu Indah, Nieta Kitchen, Qoma, Rawon Spesial Bu Tutut, and Dapur Bubu.
The event featured Farah Faza, S.Gz., M.Gizi., from the UGM Integrated Health Services Bureau, who highlighted the importance of transforming standard canteens into healthy, informative spaces. Through this initiative, canteen vendors are encouraged to provide transparent nutritional information—such as energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrate content—for each serving, alongside clear details on ingredients, allergens, and pricing. This educational effort aims to help consumers make conscious, balanced, and safe food choices without sacrificing menu variety.
In addition to the presentation, a practical session was conducted at the end of the workshop. Each vendor brought a sample menu item to simulate creating standardized, informative nutrition labels. The vendors identified the components of their dishes and labeled them accordingly—an approach planned for implementation at Kantin Sastra in the future.
