Training on Using the Reference Application and Introduction to the Online Journal System for Students of Faculty and Cultural Sciences, UGM

The Bureau of Journals and Publishing of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM will conduct an Online Workshop Series entitled “Training on Using Reference Applications and Introduction to Online Journal Systems for Students of Faculty of Cultural Sciences, UGM”. This event is free, yet limited to 100 participants for each session. Those who will attend can register through the link which has been provided for each session.

Journal Management Clinic #1

News Release Tuesday, 28 March 2023

Thursday, March 9 2023, a Journal Management Clinic for Administrator of Faculty and Cultural Sciences Journals was conducted. The workshop was held in Room 709, Soegondo Building, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, UGM. The event was attended by the representatives of 15 journals at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences. Mr. Andri Putra Kesmawan, M.I.P. as the speaker, gave a presentation on material related to the management of OJS (Open Journal Systems) and updates on journal regulations. 

The Journal & Publishing Bureau also provides assistance services for journal management on working days in Room 202, Poerbatjaraka Building, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, UGM. Information and reservations can be made through WhatsApp +628812677023 and email journal.fib@ug.ac.id. The Bureau of Journals & Publishing has scheduled a Journal Management Clinic for Adiministrator of Faculty and Cultural Sciences Journals as an ongoing agenda toimprove the quality of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences journals towards global indexation and national accreditation. On March 14th and 15th, 2023, the Bureau of Journals and Publishing of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM held an Online Workshop Series entitled “Training on Using Reference Application and Introduction to the Online Journal System for students of Faculty and Cultural Sciences, UGM”. The first and second sessions discussed Mendeley and Zotero Application-Reference training materials.

The Online Workshop Series will be continued with different materials. Below are the details of each session.

Mendeley and Zotero Application-Reference Training

News Release Tuesday, 28 March 2023

An Online Workshop Series entitled “Training on Using Reference Applications and Introduction to the Online Journal System for FIB UGM Students” has been held. There were two training sessions, namely Session 1 which was held on Tuesday, March 14 2023 with Mendeley Reference Application Training material and continued with Session 2 which was held on Wednesday, March 15 2023 with Zotero Reference Application Training material. This training was an agenda held by the Bureau of Journals & Publishing for the students of Faculty Cultural and Sciences, UGM. The Online Workshop Series will be continuing with different materials. Any updates on training information will be delivered through the Bureau of Journals and Publishing website. 

 

Brown Bag Discussion : To Sail Along The Coast, To Find A New Home.

News Release Monday, 20 March 2023

On Tuesday, 14 March 2023, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences conducted a public discussion at the 2nd floor of the Multimedia Room, Margono Building. The discussion which was open for the public entitled To Sail Along the Coast, To Found a New Home. Ronnie Hatley, who is a Ph.D. from Washington State University, was the key speaker of this event along with Dr. Daud Aris Tanudirjo, M.A. from Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM as the moderator.

The discussion was started with a presentation from Ronnie Hatley, Ph.D. by showing the journey maps of Austronesian ancestors. The next explanation was about a matriarchy concept spread to Pacific Islands. Some evidence of civilization was also presented to stimulate the discussion. At the end of the discussion, participants were invited to look at the similarities between Indonesian cultures and other Austronesian countries.

The discussion was followed by an explanation from Dr. Daud Aris Tanudirjo about distribution of Austronesian people by analyzing through migration maps, wall paintings and artifact remains. He also discussed the matriarchy concept which he called “women on the move”. Besides, other information about the genetics of Austronesian ancestors were also shown to identify migration patterns in more detail.
