Yogyakarta, October 1, 2024 – SMAN 4 Malang held a visit to the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) on Monday, October 1, 2024, from 09.00 to 11.00 WIB. This activity took place in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, 7th floor of Soegondo Building, Yogyakarta, and was attended by hundreds of 12th grade students who were enthusiastic to dig deeper information about higher education, especially in the field of cultural sciences.

The event began with opening remarks from representatives of SMAN 4 Malang teachers, who conveyed the purpose and objectives of their visit. After these remarks, the Faculty provided an overview of the study programs and various academic activities. The students were very interested in the explanation of study opportunities at UGM, which is one of the leading universities in Indonesia.

In the question and answer session, the students asked various questions that showed their interest and desire to continue their education. One of the questions that arose was about new student admission pathways, especially academic and non-academic achievement pathways. The faculty explained that there are several pathways that students can follow, including the achievement pathway which provides opportunities for those who have excellence in certain fields.

Students also asked about the availability of scholarships at UGM. Known for its diverse scholarship programs, the Faculty of Humanities ensures that there are many options for outstanding students and those in need of financial support. The next question related to the Single Tuition Payment (UKT) was also highlighted. The faculty explained that UGM applies a fair UKT system, based on the economic ability of students and their families. 

The event was closed with advice from SMAN 4 Malang alumni who are now studying at UGM. The alumni shared valuable experiences about life on campus, challenges faced, and tips for achieving success in college. His inspiring story provided additional motivation for the students to pursue their dreams. With this visit, it is hoped that students of SMAN 4 Malang can better understand the steps that need to be taken to continue their education in college, and achieve the dreams they dream of.

Saturday and Sunday, September 14 and 15, 2024 – UGM Korean Language Student Association held a Fellowship Training event with the theme “빚나는 꿈” which means “Shining dreams”. The Fellowship Training event was held for two days in Lecture Room 707 Soegondo, Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM and in Greenland Margono Courtyard. This event was attended by students of Korean Language and Culture Class of 2023 and Class of 2024.

On the first day, the series of Fellowship Training 2024 events were enlivened by Batch 22 students as guest speakers of the Talkshow session. Through this session, the seniors provided information about student exchange opportunities to South Korea and tips and tricks in taking the TOPIK exam. The new students were also able to learn more about the Korean Language and Culture study program at UGM. After the Talkshow session, the Fellowship Training 2024 event was also enlivened by various performances of new students of Batch 2024 which were very entertaining.

The Fellowship Training 2024 event continued on September 15, 2024. The second day of the event was enlivened by gymnastics together, Random Play Dance, and various exciting games such as glass tower, Hangeul writing, Hangeul relay, Telepathy game, Inmul quiz, Tuho Quiz, Tongue twister, and ended with Mystery box.

Fellowship Training 2024 is one of HIMAHARA’s work programs that aims to strengthen the sense of togetherness and introduce the Korean Language and Culture study program to new students of the Class of 2024. In addition, this activity can also be a means to get information about opportunities that can be utilized in the future, as well as creating a good community in supporting lectures.

Yogyakarta, September 24, 2024 – Hang Tuah 2 Sidoarjo High School visited the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FIB UGM) last Tuesday. The event, which took place at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM, Soegondo Building 7th floor, aimed to provide insight to 12th grade students about the world of higher education. The visit was opened with a warm welcome from the teacher representative of Hang Tuah 2 High School, who conveyed the purpose and expectations of this visit. “We hope that students can get useful information about the study options available at FIB UGM, as well as understand more about life as a student,” said the teacher representative.

The discussion between students, teachers, staff of the Public Relations and Cooperation unit, and representatives of FIB UGM students was interactive. Some of the topics raised included excellent programs from various courses, the learning process, and student study life at FIB. In addition, the students also discussed the impact of education at FIB on social life after graduation.The Head of Student Council of Hang Tuah 2 High School, who participated in the question and answer session, showed her enthusiasm by asking various questions. “We want to know more about job prospects and student experiences after graduation,” she said.

The enthusiasm of the students could also be seen in the quiz session. They competed to come forward to answer questions, showing their high learning spirit. Some students even tried many times until they managed to answer correctly. This activity ended with a group photo and handover of souvenirs as a memento. The visit to FIB UGM is expected to provide motivation and inspiration for students of Hang Tuah 2 Sidoarjo High School in determining their next educational step.

Yogyakarta, September 19, 2024 – Faculty of Cultural Sciences Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) recently received a special visit from 11th grade students and teachers from Madrasah Aliyah Al-Amin Jember. The visit took place in the auditorium of Soegondo Building 7th floor, and was attended by more than 200 participants. During the discussion, some of the most favorite majors were highlighted by the students. Students are also invited to understand the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program which provides opportunities for students to explore various fields and learning experiences outside the classroom.

One of the important topics discussed was the SKS (Semester Credit System) system at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences. Students are given the freedom to take courses across faculties, which allows them to broaden their horizons and skills. This is expected to help students in preparing themselves to face challenges in the world of work. In addition, an in-depth discussion session on cultural preservation was also high on the agenda. The students dialogue with FIB UGM students on strategies to address cultural fading through education, focusing on the role of educational institutions in strengthening cultural identity.

This visit not only provided information about Universitas Gadjah Mada & Faculty of Cultural Sciences, but also encouraged participants to be more active in preserving culture and utilizing existing educational opportunities. Hopefully, this activity can strengthen the relationship between UGM and MA Al-Amin Jember and open up opportunities for future cooperation. With the spirit of collaboration, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM is committed to continuing to contribute to the development of education and cultural preservation in Indonesia.

Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM Holds Preparatory Meeting for E-Monitoring and Evaluation (E-Monev) of Public Information Disclosure in 2024 via Zoom

Yogyakarta, 12 September 2024 – On Thursday, 12 September 2024, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a preparatory meeting for E-Monitoring and Evaluation (E-Monev) of Public Information Disclosure in 2024 online through the Zoom platform. This meeting involved various internal stakeholders of the faculty as well as representatives from related units at UGM.

This meeting had two main agendas that were discussed comprehensively. The first agenda discussed the E-Monev Timeline for Public Information Disclosure Year 2024. The E-Monev process begins in January 2024 with the collection of data and required documentation. Furthermore, the data evaluation and analysis process will last until June 2024, with the final report and recommendations to be published in August 2024. The establishment of this timeline is expected to ensure a structured and timely implementation of E-Monev.

The second agenda discussed the assessment parameters that will be applied in the questionnaire/SAQ (Self-Assessment Questionnaire) for E-Monev Public Information Disclosure 2024. The parameters to be assessed include five main aspects: Announcing Public Information, Providing Public Information Documents, Website Development, Procurement of Goods and Services, and Institutionalization.

This meeting aims to ensure that the E-Monev process can be implemented effectively and to increase transparency and accountability in the management of public information at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM. The participants hope that the results of this E-Monev will provide useful insights and feedback to improve the quality of public information services in the faculty. The Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM is committed to ensuring that the implementation of E-Monev goes smoothly and has a positive impact on improving information disclosure in the institution.
