If you’ve ever wondered how to meet various initiatives to showcase Indonesia’s unique culture to the world, then the Global Village Summer Peak 2025 is the answer. With the theme “Cultural Carousel: Wandering the Global Wonders,” this event was held with great enthusiasm at Wisma Kagama Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Yogyakarta. In collaboration with Office International Affairs (OIA) UGM, the event was attended by delegates from seven different countries: Sri Lanka, China, Vietnam, Timor Leste, the United States, Nigeria, and Pakistan.
Global Village is part of the AIESEC exchange program, which aims to celebrate cultural diversity from around the world. As an international organization focused on developing youth leadership through cross-cultural exchange, AIESEC in UGM realizes this goal through various activities at the festival, such as art performances, traditional dances, traditional clothing exhibitions, culinary delights, and other cultural activities. In this intercultural gathering, Rampoe UGM played a key role in introducing Indonesian culture through its distinctive Pukat Dance performance, which also served as the opening act.
The official event began at 10:00 a.m. WIB with a warm welcome from the MC, followed by a performance of the Pukat Dance. This dance represents the richness of Indonesian culture and leaves a profound impression of beauty in our distinct local culture. This was also felt by exchange participants and local participants at the festival. More than just a performance, this festival is the result of cultural synergy that encourages the growth of tolerance between nations through local initiatives and global perspectives. This collaboration creates a space for the younger generation to view differences not as boundaries but as opportunities to connect in harmony.
The synergy between Rampoe UGM and AIESEC in UGM is proof that a space for cultural understanding can be created through meaningful collaboration. These collaborations enhance local and global community initiatives towards cultural appreciation and preservation.
