The Japanese Students Association, often abbreviated HIMAJE, was established at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences of Universitas Gadjah Mada on 1 September 1989. Organizationally, according to the acts of establishment, HIMAJE is non-political, non-profit and democratic and active within the faculty and university.
As with many other student associations, the main goal of HIMAJE is to strengthen the bonds between its members, even though according to the acts of establishment there are still many other goals to be met by HIMAJE. HIMAJE is also a space for students’ aspirations.
